Demand Justice for Black and Brown Workers Harmed by Bayer’s Roundup

Farmworkers risk their health on our behalf every day. They were told Roundup was safe to use, only to end up battling a life-threatening cancer called non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Adding insult to injury, Bayer recently announced the Phase III study results of its new drug Copanlisib which, in combination with Rituximab, would be used by patients with relapsed indolent non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Not only will Bayer continue to sell Roundup, which causes non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, but also the drugs necessary to treat this life-threatening form of cancer.

Bayer, which bought Monsanto in 2018, announced in July that it intended to set aside about $9.6 billion to settle claims with current plaintiffs and another $1.25 billion for future claims. But, under Bayer’s formula, many cancer victims would be getting as little as $5000, and their fates would be decided by scientists of Bayer’s own choosing. This is not how the American justice system is supposed to work, and the victims, once again, are the poor, the marginalized, the disenfranchised.

Bayer-Monsanto has pocketed billions from farmers. But now that thousands of farmworkers are suffering from cancer, Bayer is pleading poverty.

We cannot allow them to create yet another revenue stream from their cynical and despicable practices!
