Support Ajike Owens’ Family

On June 2, Ajike “AJ” Owens was shot and killed after she knocked on the front door of a 58-year-old white woman in Ocala, Florida. AJ sought only to speak with her neighbor, but instead was shot through a closed door while her children stood just inches away.

Over the course of just one week, AJ’s loved ones have had to accept the painful fact that their loving mother, daughter, and friend is no longer here on this earth. With the help of supporters, they successfully rallied for accountability for AJ – which resulted in the neighbor’s arrest four days after the shooting.

Now they will have to face the next painful step on their journey toward healing: AJ’s memorial service to lay this devoted single mother to rest.

While the arrest represents an important step on the journey to justice, hopefully bringing some measure of comfort to her family, her loved ones and four young children (ages 3 to 12) will now have to face the shattering reality of life without their compassionate and loving mother.
