No-knock Warrants Threaten Innocent People

Imagine someone breaking into your home in the early hours of the morning, unannounced, dressed in dark clothing, and with military-grade weapons raised.

What would you think was happening?

You would likely believe that someone is breaking in to harm you or your family.

In actuality, it may be a no-knock warrant execution by the police.

No-knock warrants legally allow police to break into homes – WITHOUT knocking or announcing themselves first.

That’s what happened to Breonna Taylor in 2020. Police fatally shot her while they were executing a no-knock warrant in Louisville, Kentucky.

These warrants create chaotic, confusing circumstances that put everyone present at risk.

Unfortunately, they’re disproportionately used against marginalized people of color … who often end up wounded or even dead.

Bre’s death prompted many promises for reform, but only 3 states and 12 cities have banned no-knock warrants.

Yet, less than 2 years later in 2022, Amir Locke was killed while police executed a no-knock warrant in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Why didn’t we learn from history?

By knocking and announcing their presence, police could have easily prevented these tragedies.

No-knock warrants are a threat to innocent people. The risks of this dangerous policy vastly outweigh the benefits.

We MUST pass meaningful reform to eliminate the use of no-knock warrants in every city across the country!

Send an email to the Biden administration urging a ban of this unsafe policy! We’ve written an email for you to easily send in only seconds.

Please, make your voice heard.
